This section of the battalion history is primarilly [primarily] concerned with the accomplishments, contributions and even shortcomings of Company "C" and especially with the fundamental reasons for these -- which are the officers and men of the company. To relate each detail would be impossible, for they are innumerable, but to suggest many is in reality to present, with each man's personal additions, the complete story. The many names of places passed through enroute will be found, as will those of buddies and men coming under other classifications. It is further designed to bring back a smile and memory as you of the company are reminded of some of the fond nicknames you enjoyed in Europe and the stories which gave you such a kick when you told them for the "nth" time, when you could get the other guy to stop long enough to listen to your tale. In case you should travel and have spare time, a list of all the veterans in the state or states through which you may pass is available to you. As you relax, in civvies of course, to re-read this historical account about yourself and those you know, get some willing one with you to whom you can comment with your personal touch. You'll be able to give that person the straight dope; because this account is written not for full understanding by outsiders but for your guidance in remembering what you saw and did. |
