July 11, 2009 -- The Mystery of the Anne Hughes Diary: A team of researchers in the UK is trying to track down the original manuscript of a 18th Century diary, believed to have been last seen during World War II by a US soldier stationed in the English Cotswold village of Sarsden. Although the Sixth Armored Division Association officially disbanded in 2000, the 9th AIB has opened its battalion reunions to ALL division veterans and family members.

January 24, 2009 -- Added History of Combat Command B, courtesy of Pat Lennon. Pat's late husband Horace (25th Armored Combat Engineer Bn.) had been given this document for safe-keeping just before leaving for Europe for home, and he held on to it for 60+ years. Pat and son Warren scanned every page and saved them as PDFs. Now this day-by-day account of 6th Armored Division combat operations is available for everybody.


January 3, 2009 -- Replaced the original, tiny photos in the History of the 212th AFA Bn. with new scans. When this site first went on-line, we were on AOL, and had to fit everything within 2 Megabytes. The graphics were kept small and compressed to minimize space, and the scanner & software used in 1995 left some room for improvement anyhow.


December 29, 2008 -- RESCANNED CAMPAIGN MAP
The 6th Armored Division Campaign Map has been rescanned, replacing the 14-year-old low-res version which has been provided here in multiple segments with areas cropped off.

December 28, 2008 -- 25th Eng. now on-line! Companies A and B of the 25th Armored Combat Engineer Battalion now have PDF histories available on this site, thanks to the efforts of Pat Lennon (widow of Horace Lennon) and Jared Opalinski (grandson of Dewitt Green.

February 25, 2008 -- A site devoted to the Super Sixth's 76th Armored Medical Battalion has come on-line, thanks to Al Sims, son of battalion veteran T/Sgt John Sims. Lots of new photos and information about both the Division and this under-recognized unit.

November 17, 2007 -- The Combat History of the 50th Armored Infantry Battalion has been added to the web site, thanks to the effort of Marian Deeney (Assoc., 146th Sig. Co.).

Charlie Barbour's 86th Cavalry Recon site, "Mount Up!", has relocated here from its longtime home on mindspring/earthlink.

New titles and address for Hofmann titles

Fans of the 6th Armored Division know that Dr. George Hofmann is the authority on the Division's history, as well as on armor topics in general. Dr. Hofmann has a new ordering address, and a new book as well .

Military Modeling Magazine, a British publication, featured an article by Steve Zaloga ("Silver Star Jumbo") in Vol 32, Issue 4, 2002, which included details about several Super Sixth tanks. See the publisher's site for back issue information.
Tamiya's recently-released 1/35th scale Sherman M4A3 includes markings for two Super Sixth tanks: "Caballero", and #50. Caballero is seen in the new "Battle of the Bulge" book by Steve Zaloga. #50 was photographed near Drauffelt, Luxembourg during the Battle of the Bulge. This kit has markings showing it belonging to C company, 69th battalion. (The next Tamiya release should be a howitzer Sherman that also has 6th armored markings.) A well-researched and illustrated article about Super Sixth armored fighting vehicles and their markings has been written by Scott Smith and published in the Sept.-Dec. 2001 issue of George R.
